CHOICE’s Climate Survivors Game Earns Recognition as a Runner-Up in the Climate REMARKABLES Contest
We’re excited to announce that the CHOICE project’s educational game, Climate Survivors, has excelled as the second runner-up in the REMARKABLE Climate Neutrality Solutions Contest! Organized by the REMARKABLE Climate Leaders project, this European competition showcases pioneering solutions that drive climate action and promote sustainability.
Climate Survivors: Engaging, Educating and Inspiring Climate Action Through Gaming
Currently developed by IIASA in the CHOICE project’s framework, “Climate Survivors” blends popular gaming mechanics with scientific climate content to create an interactive and educational experience. In the game, players navigate a world impacted by climate hazards, making strategic decisions and gathering upgrades related to climate mitigation and adaptation. The game’s core mechanics not only entertain but also educate players on the science of climate change and the importance of sustainable practices.
By embedding climate education within a gaming format, Climate Survivors reaches a broad audience, including those who may not typically engage with traditional climate messaging. This innovative approach shifts behavior, inspires social engagement, and encourages climate action among diverse audiences.

About the #ClimateREMARKABLES Contest
The REMARKABLE Climate Neutrality Solutions Contest celebrates impactful climate solutions across Europe. In addition to Climate Survivors, other winning entries included SaveClimate.Earth’s ECO Climate Currency and SFTec Oy’s ModHeat for waste heat utilization. Each solution offers unique, practical approaches to achieving climate neutrality.
